グラニオン/Grunion
これも5月。大潮の晩に、こっそり砂浜に上陸して産卵するグラニオン。最初に上陸するオスの集団。
This was from this past May, too. Grunions sneak up on the beach in the night of spring tied for spawning. The first groups to land are males.
メスはオスからちょっと遅れて上陸（メスが遅れて来る.....他の種でもよく無かったっけ？）、砂に半身を潜らせて産卵。ラッキーなオスは砂に潜行済みで見えないけれど、ちゃんとメスのおなかの所で待機中。
Females land soon after males do (huuum, Fs comes a bit later.... Isn't that a pattern familiar to other species we all know?). A lucky male has buried himself under the sand, thus not visible in the picture above, and waiting for the female to spawn.
オポッサム/Opposum
5月末、夜帰宅すると階段で何か気配が・・・オォッ！オポッサム、それも子供！成獣はちょっとキモイけど、子供は結構かわいい＾＾。だいたい握り拳くらいの大きさ。
This happened in late May. I felt somebody's eyes when I was going up outside stairs to my home. Wow! An opossum baby was watching me! It was cute unlike their adult : ). It was about the size of my fist.
アップ！ネズミに似てるけど有袋類。住宅街のど真ん中だけれど、まだまだこんなんが夜になると徘徊するんだよねぇ。ママの背中からおこっちゃったのかしら？？
Close up! She (or he?) looked a lot like a mouse. It however belongs to the marsupial family, like Kangaroos. Opossums still wonder around middle of housing areas, exclusively at night. I wonder she (or he?) accidentally fell from back of her mom.
ブッシュ-Bush-Busch
ブッシュ大統領が今テレビで、オフショア・オイルドリリングの解禁に付いて会見中。その他の重要な案件の質疑応答、原油と戦争関連はすらすらと、つぶれた銀行の件を含む経済と司法関連はたどたどしく回答中。はぁ～、政権末期だけど、アメリカのもうひとつのブッシュの様に誰かこの政権をのっとってくれないないかなぁ.....。
Pres. Bush is making a speech on the issue of lifting off-shore oil drilling. During the usual post-speech Q&A, his tongue is smooth on Oil and War related matters, yet he staggers on economy, mainly focused around that bankrupted local bank, and justice matters. Well....., like "Busch," I wish someone takes over control of this administration even if it's automatically ending soon.....

グローバル？物差しは？/Globalize? What is your scale?
看板タイトルがマルチプラットフォームで出る事になったみたい。「グローバル企業へ」なんてもう何年も前から耳にするけどさ、寸・尺じゃなくて、メーター、インチ、ヤード、うんぬん、どれでも測れる様に成んのかなぁ。心配。
Our bread-and-butter franchise was going to be available on multi-platforms. "Global entity" is the phrase we hear a lot in the past several years. I wonder if they are truly attempting to measure ourselves in scales other than Japanese Su-n・Sha-ku. Worry me.
